We’ve just received some awesome news!  Surge Promotions has again been nominated as one of three finalists for Small Business of the Year by the Richmond Chamber of Commerce!  Whoot!  We were fortunate enough to be nominated last year, and so to be nominated again is simply incredible!  The other two finalists are Gillum’s Sports Lounge and Boardman Family Chiropractic!  The 25th annual Commerce Awards will be held in the Keen Johnson Ballroom at EKU on January 21st, beginning at 6:00 PM. We’re extremely excited and we look forward to seeing all at the banquet!

On Friday, June 30th, magic happened.

Okay, so it wasn’t literally “magic,” but it was still a huge day for us, as we celebrated moving into our new facility with a traditional Ribbon Cutting ceremony, sponsored by the Richmond Chamber of Commerce!  We began the festivities around 11:30 AM, and had about 200 of our friends come out to celebrate alongside us (as well as to dine on some fine hamburgers and hot dogs–what outing is complete without food, right)?  As people socialized, they signed their names and “good luck” messages on our Testimonial Banner, and printed their own shirts (with supervision, of course).  We had two different designs and colors of t-shirts (gray and orange) that our guests could choose from, and we let them go to town.  We walked them through the process, step-by-step, and let them set, turn, and print on our manual press (a little effort never hurt anyone)!  All enjoyed the fruits of their labor, as they got to keep their self-produced work of t-shirt art.

In terms of space, we’ve acquired a significant upgrade, as we’ve moved from having only 1500 sq. ft. to 2700!  That’s a 80% increase!  Is it lame that I just figured that out?  Oh well…

Not only do we have significantly more room, but we’re also in a much better, more convenient location!  Our new location is at 307 Jason Drive, right behind Porter Paints.

They say that a picture paints a thousand words.  Now I don’t know who “they” are, but I think they’re right, so here’s some pictures recapping the day:

Surge Promotions just received the good news that we have been nominated for Small Business of the Year!  Other nominees were Erikson Chiropractic and Kolor Kreations.  We wish everyone good luck and we’ll see you at the banquet January 29th!

So for those of you how haven’t tried out Culver’s over in the Richmond Centre (or what I like to call baby Hamburg) I highly recommend that you check them out. The staff at Surge dined at Culver’s yesterday for lunch and we all really enjoyed it! Not only was the food good, but the new staff was great! They were very helpful and eager to make all the customers happy. Culver’s might just be my new favorite place to visit!

The Surge staff has also been going to various businesses to celebrate ribbon cuttings which have included the new Hastings store, Culver’s, Jazzercise and this week we’re checking out the new Cinemark Theater! Surge really enjoysshowing support for local business and meeting the employees of the establishments. Maybe we will see you at your business soon!

Matt and Kara visited two local business this week in celebration of the Sun Kissed Tanning and Cosmic Oasis ribbon cuttings. While attending the ceremonies, Kara and Matt mingled among the business owners, employees and members of the Chamber of Commerce, as well as enjoying the delicious goodies that both business had for their guest. But this was not the most exciting part of Kara and Matt’s adventure out of the office.

Matt discovered a time capsule at Sun Kissed tanning! Thats right, Matt can finally go back to the 80’s while getting a tan in Sun Kissed Tanning’s top of the line, 9 minute tanning bed. For all of those who would like to join Matt in his tanning trip to the 80’s, please visit Sun Kissed Tanning located at Merrick Drive here in Richmond.

Another exciting discovery that Matt and Kara found was Cosmic Oasis on Main Street. Kara has officially decided that Cosmic Oasis is the perfect place to drop off your game-loving boyfriend for an afternoon of shopping with your friends. Cosmic Oasis features Jelly Belly candy, a soda machine, comic books, computer games, and 3 televisions to play your favorite videogames. If your boyfriend or child goes missing for several hours, Kara recommends you check Cosmic Oasis for your comic book and game lover.
